Mission statement
  P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and stewardship of Cottey college; and motivate each other to achieve their highest aspirations.

Educational Loan Fund    P.E.O. Projects: P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund (ELF): Established in 1907 as a revolving fund to lend money to qualified women students to assist them in securing a higher education. Applicants must be sponsored by a local chapter.
 
International Peace Scholarship    P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund (IPS): Established in 1949 to provide scholarships for international students to pursue graduate study in the United States and Canada and to encourage peace through education and understanding.
 
Cottey College    P.E.O. Cottey College: Founded in 1884 and has been owned and supported by the P.E.O. Sisterhood since 1927. Cottey is a fully accredited two-year liberal arts college for women, providing its students with quality education, leadership opportunities and cultural experiences. Cottey is located in Nevada, Missouri.
 
Program for Continuing Education    P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education (PCE): Established in 1973, is a grant program providing financial assistance to women whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to resume studies due to changing demands in their lives. They must have a need for financial assistance with their educational expenses to improve their marketable skills.
 
Scholar Awards    P.E.O. Scholar Awards was established in 1991 to provide substantial awards to women of the United States and Canada who are pursuing advanced degrees or are engaged in advanced study or graduate research. Nominations for this award come from local chapters.
 
P.E.O. Foundation    The P.E.O. Foundation is a nonprofit corporation established in 1961 to encourage tax-deductible gifts to the educational and charitable projects of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Because it qualifies as a charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, gifts and bequests made to and in the name of the P.E.O. Foundation are deductible for U.W. and state income, estate and gift tax purposes.
 
Miriam Scarborough Scholarship    Miriam Scarborough Scholarship, a financial aid scholarship, created in 1971 by Chapter E, Mississippi, and established in 1973 by State convention to honor past state president Miriam Wallace Scarborough.Recipients must be Mississippi residents and attend a Mississipp higher education institution or Cottey College.
 
STAR program    A NEW program for high school senior girls continuing into higher education that exhibit excellence in academics, leadership, extracurricular activities, community service and potential for future success.
